Brazos Electric Power Cooperative is seeking an experienced Accountant II to join our cooperative and take charge of critical financial functions. In this role, you’ll ensure our financial transactions are meticulously prepared, recorded, maintained, and reported, following Rural Utility Service (RUS) standards and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
What You’ll Do:
Inventory Management: Be the backbone of our inventory system by creating and maintaining stock numbers, auditing inventory, and reconciling transactions. Your insights will help keep our operations running smoothly.
Utility Bills Management: Set up and monitor utility bill accounts, ensuring uniformity, tax-exempt status, and proper account coding. Your attention to detail will ensure that services are necessary and properly accounted for.
Property Tax Oversight: Act as a liaison with property tax consultants, manage property tax data, and prepare detailed reports. Your expertise will be crucial in maintaining accuracy and compliance in our property tax records.
General Accounting: Dive deep into Rural Utilities Service (RUS) Bulletins and our accounting systems, assist in developing internal controls, and participate in special projects and audits. Your contributions will help maintain the integrity of our financial processes.

What You’ll Bring:
A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
At least three years of experience as an Accountant I or equivalent.
A CPA certificate is desirable and will set you apart.
